Time & Effort
Time & Effort metrics for portfolio-relative valuation
What this dimension measures
The Time & Effort dimension measures labor investment: how much time, effort, and creative energy an artist put into each artwork. It’s the first of three dimensions in the Artalytics framework, alongside Skill & Artistry and Complexity & Detail.
Within each artist’s portfolio, Time & Effort scores differentiate peak-effort works (85th+ percentile) from standard output (40th–84th) and studies or sketches (below 40th). The signal is grounded in canvas-file metadata that captures every stroke, every active session, every palette decision — no subjective judgment required.
Why within-artist comparison works · How the score is calculated
The public foundation view intentionally stops at the dimension level. Time & Effort is built from five proprietary metric families spanning active creation duration, pacing, surface engagement, stroke activity, and palette-development behavior. The full metric names, definitions, formulas, and implementation notes are available in the private documentation for qualified review.
