Complexity & Detail

Complexity & Detail metrics for portfolio-relative valuation

What this dimension measures

The Complexity & Detail dimension measures execution depth: how much intricacy, stroke density, and compositional control an artist deployed in each artwork. It’s the third of three dimensions in the Artalytics framework, alongside Time & Effort and Skill & Artistry.

Within each artist’s portfolio, Complexity & Detail scores differentiate intricacy-peak works (85th+ percentile) from standard output (40th–84th) and simpler or minimalist pieces (below 40th). The signal derives entirely from canvas-file metadata — stroke precision, spatial density, color-distribution dynamics — and does not rely on subjective critique.

Why within-artist comparison works · How the score is calculated

The public foundation view intentionally stops at the dimension level. Complexity & Detail is built from five proprietary metric families spanning stroke placement, spatial density, color structure, temporal stability, and compositional planning behavior. The full metric names, definitions, formulas, and implementation notes are available in the private documentation for qualified review.
